The next event to look for is the concert with the one and only Spanish Harlem Orchestra on Aug 1st. NOT TO BE missed. My camera and I will be there recording the evening.
Also, this weekend, Johnny and Kelly's Bachata workshop and Hacha y Machete's Fundraising Party and a special performance at Viernes de Vacilon at Ryles. Whoooho. salsa never ends !

SCULLERS JAZZ CLUB’S DANCE PARTY SERIES CONTINUES WITH THE GRAMMY WINNING AMBASSADORS OF NEW YORK’S CLASSIC SALSA SOUND- THE SPANISH HARLEM ORCHESTRA.
Boston, Massachusetts-June 11th-Scullers Jazz Club is located in the Doubletree Guest Suites-Boston on 400 Soldiers Field Road, at the corner of the Mass Pike and Storrow Drive. Scullers Jazz Club is thrilled to present The Spanish Harlem Orchestra August 1, 2007 (from 8pm-11pm) in conjunction with their Dance Party Series. This 21+ show will look different from Scullers usual performances as the double doors to the adjacent Ballroom are opened up to accommodate two dance floors. Limited seating will be available (general admission only) and no food service will be provided inside the club. (The dinner & show package will be served in the Boathouse Grille prior to the show). As essential as the Funk Brothers were to the sound of Motown, or the Blue Moon Boys were to the early days of Elvis and Sun Records, members of SPANISH HARLEM ORCHESTRA were the ace musicians who worked with the most legendary names of the classic New York salsa scene – including Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, Hector Lavoe and many more. Under the direction of acclaimed pianist/arranger/producer Oscar Hernández since the year 2000, Spanish Harlem Orchestra has been at the forefront of maintaining the energy, creativity and spirit of true New York salsa. As leading ambassadors of this distinctive New York Latin sound, both of Spanish Harlem Orchestra’s first two records registered GRAMMY nominations, and the second/last of these – “Across 110th St,” featuring the masterful Ruben Blades – went on to win a Grammy for “Best Salsa Album”.

Noche Latina's Tuesday Night Salsa
Noche Latina Salsa night, Tuesdays at Ryles.
What a week! We had a successful Tuesday Salsa Night and we donated our time and services at two local charity events. We continue to see a good crowd at our Tuesday Salsa Nights with many happy students and dancing friends in our classes and at the dance party.
We appreciate the opportunity to give something back to the community that supports us by performing at events like these. Thank you to everyone who came out to support us.
Class Enhancements: The new combinations we taught this week were hits again. Most of you learned them well and special cheers to those who took the next level classes and were able to keep up! We want to keep you motivated and help you develop a large repertoire of dance steps quickly. Our goal is to keep you learning and growing as a dancer, so we are teaching leadable dance steps at all levels. Steps that you can use socially after class at our Salsa Night dance party or a dance night out.
Tuesday Night Schedule at Ryles Jazz Club in Cambridge:
7:00 pm - 8:15 pm Beginner / Advanced Beginner Salsa
8:15 pm - 8:30 pm Introductory Lesson
8:30 pm - 9:30 pm Intermediate/Advanced Salsa
Salsa Night (featuring DJ Hernan): 9:30pm - 12:30am
Intro Class: The introductory class continues to be free to those taking our classes that night. For April, the introductory class is the romantic and sensual Bachata.
Class Cost: $13 per lesson ($11 with student ID). This includes the intro lesson and dancing after 9:30pm. Session cards are available in blocks of 5 or 10 lessons. If you are looking for a discount on classes, talk to our friendly NLDC staff to find out how to get one. If you don't make it to class in time, don't worry, you can still join us for a great night of dancing for $8 at our Salsa Night after 9:30pm.

performances by Adolfo and Melissa, one of the hottest dance couples
now on the Salsa dance scene. They are both long time Eddie Torres
Dancers and are now travelling and doing their own choreography.

In addition to their performance, Adolfo and Melissa will be teaching
an intermediate/advanced salsa workshop before the party begins on
Friday. The workshop will be from 8:30 to 10 pm.
