The Ultimate Latin Experience

Salsa Paradise is Boston's newest hot salsa dance spot featuring salsa dancing with Clara Angelina who will be accompanied by DJ Hernan. We have an amazing venue welcoming over 200+ salsa dancers. Experience not necessary.

Salsa: Salsa! The smooth, beautiful music with the joyful, vibrant Carnaval beat, is a dynamic combination of rhythms from the world's African, Caribbean and Latin regions.

Salsa is continuing its decades long growth to embrace all ages and all people.

In Latin dance music, the male dancer leads his partner in a joint expression of her sensuality, and together their movement should be elegant to behold. To become a good salsa dancer requires commitment, practice and good instruction.

Noche Latina's Tuesday Night Salsa
Noche Latina Salsa night, Tuesdays at Ryles.

What a week! We had a successful Tuesday Salsa Night and we donated our time and services at two local charity events. We continue to see a good crowd at our Tuesday Salsa Nights with many happy students and dancing friends in our classes and at the dance party.

On Wednesday, the fundraiser at Ryles was organized by Julie Bolt and Cindy Somers for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and the Brookline Community Health Center. Noche Latina Dance Company was chosen to provide the dance classes and DJ Hernan the music for the night. Those who attended were treated to a performance by the NLDC semi-professional dance team. We had not announced the performance because this event came up sooner than our plans and we weren't sure whether our costumes will be ready. In the near future, we hope to have other "public" performances, please stay tuned. And we hope Julie and her marathon friends had a good day at the Boston Marathon on such a cold and rainy day!

On Saturday night NLDC's semi-professional dance team had the privilege of performing at a private inaugural FATEM Dinner Party and Conference at the Sheraton Tara Hotel in Braintree. FATEM (Foundation for the Technological and Economic Advancement of Mirebalais) is a local non-profit organization working collaboratively to bring information technology to support the economic advancement of the region of Mirebalais in Haiti. For more information on FATEM's ongoing initiatives, please visit their website at www.fatem.org.

We appreciate the opportunity to give something back to the community that supports us by performing at events like these. Thank you to everyone who came out to support us.

Class Enhancements: The new combinations we taught this week were hits again. Most of you learned them well and special cheers to those who took the next level classes and were able to keep up! We want to keep you motivated and help you develop a large repertoire of dance steps quickly. Our goal is to keep you learning and growing as a dancer, so we are teaching leadable dance steps at all levels. Steps that you can use socially after class at our Salsa Night dance party or a dance night out.

Tuesday Night Schedule at Ryles Jazz Club in Cambridge:
7:00 pm - 8:15 pm Beginner / Advanced Beginner Salsa

8:15 pm - 8:30 pm Introductory Lesson
8:30 pm - 9:30 pm Intermediate/Advanced Salsa
Salsa Night (featuring DJ Hernan April 3rd): 9:30pm - 12:30am

Intro Class: The introductory class continues to be free to those taking our classes that night. For April, the introductory class is the romantic and sensual Bachata.

Class Cost: $13 per lesson ($11 with student ID). This includes the intro lesson and dancing after 9:30pm. Session cards are available in blocks of 5 or 10 lessons. If you are looking for a discount on classes, talk to our friendly NLDC staff to find out how to get one. If you don't make it to class in time, don't worry, you can still join us for a great night of dancing for $8 at our Salsa Night after 9:30pm.

All NLDC classes taught by Hedwige J Louis and Company.

For more information, please visit us on the web at: http://www.nldcsalsa.com/
Please feel free to forward this email and invite your friends and
family to join us for a great night of Salsa.

Admission: $15 21+ Event

Shuttle Service for parking available

9:00 p.m. Complimentary Dance Lesson by Glenio Oliveira
10:00 p.m. – 1:30 a.m. Dance Party and Live Performance by AGUIDA

Boston, MA – La Casa de la Cultura/Center for Latino Arts announces EL BEMBÉ, Boston’s celebrated Latin music and dance party. EL BEMBÉ has become a fixture in the Salsa movement in Boston since 1999. Starting this Spring, EL BEMBÉ will change it’s format to offer a more diverse and multi-cultural experience. Instead of focusing exclusively on Salsa and Merengue music and dance, this production will be dedicated to providing a wider cultural scope to the music and dance of Latin America while allowing for an increase in cross-cultural experiences for dancers, artists and music lovers. EL BEMBÉ BRASILERO will offer a unique opportunity for dancers to learn new dance steps and enjoy new musical styles including Samba, Forro, and more with professional dancer and instructor Glenio Oliveira. After the lesson, the DJ will spin Brazilian dance music as well as Salsa and Merengue favorites so the evening will have a great variety in music. EL BEMBÉ BRASILERO will also feature a live performance by AGUIDA, offering us a varied repertoire of fiery Brazilian rhythms and styles to add to this unique cultural experience.

EL BEMBÉ caters to a diverse audience ranging from Latin music and dance enthusiasts to professional and advanced dancers to Latin dance beginners. EL BEMBÉ’s friendly atmosphere is both inviting and engaging, characterized by a contagiously festive spirit. Perhaps the most unique characteristic of EL BEMBÉ is that all proceeds from the event are re-invested in the CLA’s arts programs therefore, patrons not only enjoy a unique celebration but they also contribute to the cultural life of the city of Boston.

Upcoming EL BEMBÉ productions:
• EL BEMBÉ COLOMBO-BRASILERO / COLOMBIAN-BRAZILIAN EL BEMBÉ

HISPANIC WRITERS WEEK

Hello Everyone,
As many of you know, April is National Poetry Month, and it is also the 13th celebration of Hispanic Writers Week in Boston.
The week encompasses public school workshops for students, community readings, and comradeship among published and amateur writers. This year, the week ends with a celebration of Bomba & Plena.

The HWW program brings
literary artists from the U.S. and Latin America to Massachusetts schools to conduct creative writing
workshops. Utilizing a series of interactive seminars and lectures,
they help students find their own voices as writers and to use literature as an alternative for conflict resolution. Students will read samples of their writings completed during the week.
